The $300 base fee
Every installation has a $300 base fee. Materials and labor are added to that, priced by the length of roofline you want lit.
We do not publish a per-foot rate. You get one total for your house, in writing, before you book.
Pricing and estimates
The four things that drive the price
1. Roofline length
This is the biggest factor. We price the number of feet of roof edge and gutter you want lit. Lighting only the front of the house is the shortest run. Adding the sides, the back, or a detached garage adds feet, and feet add cost.
If you have a budget in mind, tell us. We can quote the front first and show you what the sides would add.
2. Number of stories
A second-story roofline needs taller ladders, more setup at each position, and more time per foot than a single-story run. Many Houston homes have both: a low run over the garage or porch and a high run above the second floor. We price each level for what it takes.
3. Roof pitch and access
A steep roof, or a section above a fence, a pool, a flower bed or a narrow side yard, takes longer to reach safely. Sometimes a section cannot be reached safely at all. Our policy: We install on two-story homes, with the roofline reviewed at the estimate and an added charge for second-story work. We decline any roofline section our crew cannot reach safely from a ladder. Tile, slate and metal roofs are limited to gutter-line installation.
4. The package you choose
- Installation is one visit. We hang the lights.
- Light Up + Pack Up is two visits plus storage. We hang the lights, come back to take them down, and store them.
The second visit is real ladder time, so Light Up + Pack Up costs more on the same roofline once length is added in. The takedown and storage page explains what that visit covers.

How TruShine's quote works
- You book an estimate online or call us.
- We size your roofline: an on-site visit.
- You get one price for the run you asked for and the package you chose. If you want to compare front only against full perimeter, or one package against the other, ask and we will price both.
- If you go ahead, you pick an install date. Deposit and payment: A 50% deposit is required to book. The balance is due after installation, on the day the installation is completed.
The price we quote is for the roofline and package agreed. If you add sections on install day, we tell you the added cost before we hang them.

What is and is not in the quote
In the quote: the lights on your roofline and gutter line, hung by TruShine employees, and checked before the crew leaves. Whether the lights themselves are part of the price: TruShine can supply the lights or install lights you already own. For customer-owned lights, the price is the $300 base fee plus labor only, with no materials charge. Timer: One outdoor plug-in timer is included with each installation.
Not in the quote, because we do not offer it: lighting on trees, shrubs or landscaping. TruShine lights rooflines and gutters only. If another company's quote looks much higher than ours, check whether it includes tree wraps or other decor. You may be comparing different jobs.

What Houston homeowners pay, according to outside sources
Angi's Houston cost guide, with data updated November 18, 2025, puts the average cost of Christmas light installation in Houston at $671, with a typical range of $362 to $1,044.
The same Angi guide lists $360 to $870 for a one-story home of 1,000 to 2,000 square feet, and $725 to $1,740 for a two-story home of 2,500 to 3,500 square feet.
Two cautions about those figures. First, they are marketplace averages across many kinds of jobs and installers, from labor-only work to full-service packages, so they are context and not a TruShine price. Second, the pattern in them matters more than the exact dollars: in Angi's own numbers, the larger two-story home costs about twice what the small one-story home does. Size and height drive the price everywhere, including here.

How to keep your price down
- Light the front roofline only. It is what the street sees.
- Skip the high, steep sections and light the lower runs.
- Choose Installation instead of Light Up + Pack Up if you are comfortable taking the lights down yourself.
- Book early, so you are choosing from open dates.
Common questions
Christmas light installation cost questions
How much does Christmas light installation cost in Houston?
Every installation has a $300 base fee. Materials and labor are added to that, priced by the length of roofline you want lit. For market context, Angi's Houston cost guide, with data updated November 18, 2025, puts the Houston average at $671 with a typical range of $362 to $1,044.
Is the $300 base fee the total price?
No. The $300 base fee is charged on every job. Materials and labor are added based on the length of roofline you want lit, along with the number of stories, roof pitch, access and package you choose.
Do you charge by the foot?
Roofline length is the biggest factor in the price, but we do not publish a per-foot rate. You get one total for your house before you book.
Does a two-story house cost more?
Yes. Second-story rooflines need taller ladders and more time per foot. Our policy on height and pitch: We install on two-story homes, with the roofline reviewed at the estimate and an added charge for second-story work. We decline any roofline section our crew cannot reach safely from a ladder. Tile, slate and metal roofs are limited to gutter-line installation.
Is takedown included in the price?
Only with the Light Up + Pack Up package, which covers installation, takedown and storage. The Installation package covers hanging the lights only.
Do you take a deposit?
A 50% deposit is required to book. The balance is due after installation, on the day the installation is completed.
