Holiday lighting guide
What Light Up + Pack Up covers
- Installation of lights on your roofline and gutters.
- A return visit after the holidays to take the lights down.
- Storage of the lights.
The other package, Installation, covers the first item only. If you choose Installation, taking the lights down is up to you.
2026 is our first season offering holiday lighting, so this is our first takedown season too. Ladder work at the roof edge is not new to us. TruShine technicians have been cleaning gutters and upper-story windows in Houston since 2014.
Removal and storage
What happens at the takedown visit
- We contact you to schedule a day inside the takedown window: January 1 through January 31, 2027.
- The crew sets ladders and removes the lights from the roofline and gutter line, working section by section.
- The lights and any cords we put up come down with them. Nothing is left on the roof edge.
- The crew walks the roofline area on the ground and picks up anything that dropped.
- The lights leave with the crew and go to storage.
Whether you need to be home for this visit: You do not need to be home. We need access to the roofline and a working outdoor outlet.

How storage works
Storage terms: With Light Up + Pack Up, the lights are labeled for each customer and stored until November 1 of the following season. If you do not rebook, you can collect the lights or we will deliver them.
Who the lights belong to after the season: When TruShine supplies the lights, you buy them and own them.

When the lights come down
Our takedown window is January 1 through January 31, 2027.
If you live in a community with an HOA, check whether it sets a removal date. FirstService Residential Texas wrote in 2024 that some HOAs require holiday decorations to be removed by mid-January. Your community may be different. Read your own deed restrictions, and tell us your date when you book so we can schedule around it.

Why people choose takedown and storage
- January ladder work is easy to put off. Lights that go up in November often stay up into February because nobody wants to climb back up. A scheduled visit ends that.
- Coming down is the same risk as going up. It is the same height and the same ladder. Our technicians do roof-edge work every day and TruShine is fully insured.
- No tangle in the garage. With storage, the lights are not taking up a shelf at your house.
- We can look at the gutters while we are there. Late fall fills Houston gutters with leaves. If yours need clearing, our gutter services team is the same company.
Pricing and estimates
What it costs
Every installation has a $300 base fee. Materials and labor are added to that, priced by the length of roofline you want lit. Because it includes a second visit, it will cost more than Installation on the same roofline once length is added in. The cost guide explains what sets the price.
