How to Spring Clean Your Windows
Are you ready to experience your cleanest windows ever? Let’s get started.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
- Scrub brush
- Gallon bucket with a vinegar/water solution
- Commercial window cleaner (optional)
- Sponge or microfiber cloth
- Rubber squeegee
- Cleaning gloves (optional)
Step 2: Clean Your Screens
Remove all of the screens from your windows. This will make the cleaning process much easier.
Lay the screens flat in your yard.
Spray down all screens with a hose until they are completely soaked. Then, use your scrub brush dipped in a vinegar solution to clean each screen individually on both sides.
Rinse off the residue when you’re finished.
Let the screens dry completely while you move on to step two.
Step 3: Clean Your Window Sills and Tracks
Mix a fresh solution of a gallon of water and two to four tablespoons of vinegar.
Dip your scrub brush into the mixture and start scrubbing the window sills and window tracks. Keep scrubbing until all stuck-on dirt has been dislodged.
Rinse off the residue with a garden hose when you’re finished.
Step Three: Clean Your Windows
Now it’s time to clean your windows!
Completely soak windows with a commercial window cleaner or a fresh solution of equal parts water and vinegar.
Grab your sponge or microfiber cloth. Wipe windows with an up-and-down motion. Wring out the sponge or cloth frequently to prevent drips and streaks.
Repeat this process on both sides of the windows until all of your windows are free of stuck-on residue.
To eliminate streaks, use a rubber squeegee to remove the water and cleaning solution.
Completely dry your windows with a microfiber cloth or chamois, making sure to work in one direction so that you don’t leave behind streaks.
Step Four: Enjoy Your Clean, Beautiful Windows All Season Long!
