Local planning
Two-story rooflines are most of the job in Katy
A lot of Katy housing is two-story homes in master-planned communities. The front of a typical house has more than one roof level: a lower run over the garage or front porch, and a higher run above the second floor, often broken up by gables.
That shape matters for a lighting quote. Each level is reached from a different ladder setup, and the high run takes more time per foot than the low one. When you book, tell us whether you want both levels lit or only the lower run. Lighting the lower roofline and the garage alone is a common way to keep the price down and still light the front of the house.
Our policy on height and pitch: We install on two-story homes, with the roofline reviewed at the estimate and an added charge for second-story work. We decline any roofline section our crew cannot reach safely from a ladder. Tile, slate and metal roofs are limited to gutter-line installation.
Holiday lighting guide
Check your HOA rules before you pick dates
Most master-planned communities have an HOA, and many HOAs have rules about holiday decorations. FirstService Residential Texas wrote in 2024 that some HOAs allow decorations starting 30 days before Christmas and require removal by mid-January.
We do not know your community's rules, and they vary from one section to the next. Read your own deed restrictions or ask your HOA about start dates, removal dates and hours. Then tell us, and we will schedule inside them. If your HOA has a firm removal date, the Light Up + Pack Up package puts takedown on our calendar instead of yours.

What we install in Katy
- Lights along the roofline and gutter line. Front only, or the full perimeter.
- Installation by TruShine employees. We are fully insured and do not use subcontractors.
- Two packages: Installation, or Light Up + Pack Up, which adds takedown and storage.
We do not light trees or shrubs.
Tell us at booking if you have a detached garage, or a side roofline that faces the street on a corner lot. Both add feet, and it is easier to quote them up front than to add them on install day.
Pricing and estimates
What a Katy roofline costs
Every installation has a $300 base fee. Materials and labor are added to that, priced by the length of roofline you want lit. A two-story front with gables has more feet of roof edge than it looks like from the street, so expect the length to be the main part of your quote. The cost guide explains the four things that set the price.
